Owlmakers ("the developer") operates DashMeter ("the app"), which uses GPS to show
your speed, trip distance and acceleration / braking performance. It is an
on-device app with no sign-in and no cloud.
Summary
· Location (GPS) coordinates are never sent to any server — speed is computed entirely
on your device.
· Location is used only while the app is open (no background tracking).
· There is no account or sign-in, so the developer holds no personal data about you. The only thing sent
to a developer server is the anonymous usage statistics in section 1b, which never
includes coordinates either.
· Ads (Google AdMob) use an advertising ID. There is no payment, subscription or account.
1. Location — it never leaves your device
The app uses your device's GPS location to compute speed, trip distance and acceleration /
braking measurements.
- Location coordinates are never sent to the developer's servers or to any third party.
- Location is used on-device for speed calculation only; raw coordinates are not stored.
- Location is used only while the app is open. The app does not request background
location permission and stops receiving location when you leave the app.
- The app still runs if you decline location permission — only speed measurement is unavailable.
2. Data stored on your device
The following stays on your device only and is never transmitted.

Uninstalling the app deletes this data.
1b. Our own usage statistics (Owlmakers)
To check that the app is working in real use, the developer sends anonymous usage statistics
(including country and region) to its own server (api.owlmakers.com, over HTTPS).
- What is sent: app name, version and display language; screen views and actions such as starting or
finishing a measurement; an "in use" signal; and a random value created fresh on every
launch (never stored, so it identifies neither you nor your device).
- The server records only the country, region and city name of the connection. IP
addresses are not stored, and GPS coordinates or any other precise location are
never received — the same rule as section 1 (coordinates never leave the device)
applies here too.
- Data is kept for one year and is not shared with third parties.
3. Advertising — Google AdMob
The app shows Google AdMob ads to remain free (on the Measure and Settings screens only; the drive
screen and HUD carry no ads).
- AdMob may collect an advertising ID (AAID) and device information to serve ads.
This is governed by Google's policies; the developer does not separately collect or retain it.
- The developer never provides location coordinates for advertising purposes.

- Ad personalisation can be changed in device Settings → Google → Ads.
- Users in the EEA and the UK are shown a consent (UMP) dialog on first launch.
4. Children under 14
The app is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their personal data.
5. Your rights
The app has no accounts and no sign-in, so the developer holds no personal data about you. You can
clear on-device data at any time by deleting records in the app or uninstalling it.
6. Safety notice
This app is for reference and does not replace your vehicle's instrument cluster. Do not look at the
screen while driving; use interactive features only when stopped. This app is not a speed-trap
avoidance tool.
